About the Speaker

Ryan York’s work at Arcadia Science is focused on expanding the scope, accuracy, and efficiency of biomedical research by understanding and leveraging evolution.
Current efforts include understanding the evolution of genotype–phenotype maps, defining + pushing machine learning limits in biology, and expanding the organismal portfolio of biomedical research.
Arcadia is deeply committed to open science. All work is published as living documents that they invite the community to review. The code and data needed to reproduce each publication are openly shared and well-documented. Read more about this publishing philosophy here.
Ryan was previously a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Neurobiology at Stanford University. He received a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Stanford’s biology department. His favorite organisms are dogs, due to their fascinating co-evolution with humans.
