QB3 was created to fuel the California bioeconomy. Our economic efforts have two goals: to establish mutually beneficial relationships between university and industry, and to launch new companies consistent with our mission of benefiting society through innovation.

To produce goods and services that arise from academia, innovations must be refined, adapted, and produced by industry. QB3 catalyzes this process. The Innovation Toolkit is the package of services and funding that we use to turn entrepreneurial vision into reality. Knowledge Brokers are the heart of the Innovation Toolkit. If you are a researcher with an idea, an industry representative looking for an academic partner, or a medical clinician with an unmet technical need, contact one of our Knowledge Brokers.

In the short term, we convert our scientists' discoveries into new companies that create jobs. But in the long term we are accelerating the development of entirely new industries to meet the needs of future society. Our faculty are training the next generation of scientists who will enable these industries. We are always looking to the future to identify major needs that can be addressed by our scientists and infrastructure.
