Biotalk with QB3's Doug Crawford
Doug Crawford talks to Ron Leuty of the San Francisco Business Times about the QB3 Garage at UCSF.
QB3 is bursting the traditional academic model by accelerating the pace that innovations created in University of California laboratories are translated into companies, jobs and improved health care for patients.
Formally the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences, QB3 is well known in life sciences circles for its 2,500-square-foot Garage incubator, home to a dozen companies over the past 3-1/2 years at the Mission Bay campus of UC San Francisco. And a few months ago, it set up nine young companies in what it is calling the QB3 Mission Bay Incubator Network in the FibroGen building across the street from UCSF.
