$42.6 million grant to produce inexpensive antimalarial drug for developing world

A $42.6 million five-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the Institute for OneWorld Health will create a powerful new approach to developing a more affordable, accessible cure for malaria. UC Berkeley and Amyris Biotechnologies will work with OneWorld Health to develop Jay Keaslings breakthrough research on synthesizing the anti-malarial drug artemisinin.
