Introduction to synthetic biology
UC Berkeley Extension is offering an evening course on synthetic biology. The course runs from March 4 to May 13.
March 4 to May 13: Thurs., 6:30-9:30 pm

X426 (2 semester units in Molecular and Cell Biology)
Learn the core principles of the nascent and exciting field of synthetic
biology. Learn how researchers create and redesign biological parts, devices,
and systems. The course begins with a review of cellular components and gene
expression, and expands into current production of protein and small molecule
products from biological systems. You will also develop an understanding of the
analytical methods used "downstream" in the production cycle, get
insight into emerging technologies, and examine the anthropological
implications of these new creations and designs.
