Fact Sheet: Byers Hall

Location: Byers Hall, QB3's UC San Francisco facility, is located on the UCSF Mission Bay campus.

Design: Byers Hall has roughly 96,000 sq. ft. on five floors, and will house 30 faculty members at full capacity. Scientists began relocating to the facility in February 2005.

The building layout reflects QB3s emphasis on bringing scientific discoveries to the benefit of society. Embedded
in the basic science community are teams working on drug design and development on the top floors, on the diagnosis of disease on the middle floors, while the first floor will host human clinical trials to determine the usefulness of drugs and diagnostics. The building also hosts an MRI suite and a center for small molecule drug discovery.

Cost: The $97 million facility is funded through combined state and private sources.
